Once, Norfolk was spidered with pilgrim routes, leading to sacred sites including Walsingham, Bromholm Priory and Norwich.

 When Henry VIII banned pilgrimage and outlawed the veneration of Saints, those routes were forgotten. Now they are being revived.

 Andy Bull’s new book, Norfolk’s Pilgrim Routes: A History of Paths, Places and People is both a celebration, and a practical guide to pilgrimage in the county.
