Heritage Open Day – Visit the Bell Tower at Great Yarmouth Minster

Step inside one of the church’s most fascinating spaces as we open up the bell tower for a special family-friendly event. This is a unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of the tower, learn about its history, and experience the age-old tradition of bell ringing first-hand.

Our dedicated team of bell ringers will be on hand throughout the day to demonstrate how the bells are rung and share the skill, rhythm, and teamwork that go into this centuries-old practice. You’ll see the ropes in action, hear the bells ring out, and discover just how much coordination it takes to keep everything in time!

Children and adults alike can ask questions, handle some of the equipment, and learn fun facts about the bells and their place in the life of the church. There’s plenty to see and do for all ages, and no climbing experience is necessary—just bring curiosity and a sense of adventure.
