A place for every person
Beginning with St Paul’s description of the Church as the body of Christ in 1 Corinthians 12, Simon and Richard reflect on why we need one another. They share stories of the support a church community can offer, including those days when even a priest finds it hard to feel enthusiastic about going to church.
Being part of that community does not mean being the busiest person or the most confident speaker. Simply being quietly present, offering a kind word or worshipping alongside someone else can make a difference.
From welcome to belonging
The conversation also acknowledges that coming to church is not always easy. Richard shares his experience of feeling unsure whether he would be accepted, and the welcome that helped him find his way back.
Together, they consider how churches can help newcomers feel comfortable, give people space and turn an initial welcome into a lasting sense of belonging. They also explore taking part in parish life and growing in faith, including an introduction to the Bible course.
