On Sunday we saw how Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and found a special place of intimacy. However, in earlier scriptures we see her being delivered of demons.

Mary healed. In Luke 8:2 we see Mary being healed of illnesses and diseases. In this encounter Mary came to realise the importance of staying close to Jesus. Through this relationship we see her growth. Jesus knew who she was, he loved her, called her by name and accepted her as an individual – the good parts and the not so good parts.

Mary was at the cross. Sometime later she’s watching this cruel treatment. I can’t imagine the turmoil she must have been experiencing as she saw her rabbi stripped of his dignity and hung on a cross – the punishment for a vile criminal. What would his death have meant for her?

Mary was there to witness the resurrected Christ. Visiting the tomb grief‑stricken she was probably overwhelmed by the absence of Jesus’ body. Where is he? She became the apostle to the apostles, a great transformation.

Can you see your life being transformed by the presence, relationship, death, burial or resurrection of Jesus Christ?
