In our reading from St Matthew’s Gospel this Sunday, Jesus encourages us not to be too concerned for our own well-being, but to rely on God. Later, at the end of the Gospel (Chapter 25), Jesus will remind us that our primary calling in life is to serve others, most notably the hungry, the naked, the stranger, the sick and those in prison. Some years ago, as a response to this command from Jesus, many among you set up Pathway. Now a thriving, independent charity, Pathway serves up to 300 hot meals and distributes about 40 food parcels per week. So, we are doing well! But we need more volunteers, especially to join the clergy team in providing pastoral support to clients as they visit for a meal or a food parcel. Could that be you? Talk to Rev Richard if you would like to know more.
