Nature lovers will equally be enthralled by the Minster churchyard. One of the town’s largest green spaces, the swathes of parkland wrap around the church, its lush lawns kept shorter to respect the gravestones while other wilder areas further afield are allowed to flourish into natural flower meadows. The churchyard is lined by many varied mature trees and planted borders, making it a haven for wildlife, and of course, a joy for everyone to explore.
Why not bring a picnic and take time to relax in the churchyard at the end of your visit, resting a while amidst the fascinating flora and fauna…
You will find lots more information via the side menu to your left about visiting this impressive, atmospheric church, bigger than many of the UK’s cathedrals.
