Do remember at this busy time to take time and be thankful. It’s easy to get too focussed on the things which need doing and forget to count our blessings when the joy of the season slips under a tide of tinsel and mounds of mince pies.
In our New Testament reading today Paul writes to his friends in Philippi and he does so with a great sense of joy and thanksgiving, despite the fact that he finds himself in prison as he writes. He has plenty to distract him but thankfulness will not give way to loathing and affliction. These are people he knows and loves and you can feel the pastoral care welling in Paul’s heart as he writes.
Christian life is about learning to order all things under God and putting things straight. Offering to God our gratitude and thanks is a crucial step of faith we should honour day by day.
